Old Cathedral-Style Radio |
There are few things I enjoy more in
life than listening to Old Time Radio.
It's much more entertaining than what tries to pass for entertainment on TV today. And it's great because I can really drive
my kids nuts with it when they are held captive in the car. (They don't appreciate it nearly as much as I do.) Unfortunately,
they usually win out anyway, because they manage to be noisy enough to drown out any opportunity I might have to actually
HEAR THE BROADCAST!
But still I can spend hours listening, going back in time
to yesteryear, when life was simpler, the entertainment purer, and values clearer. Captain Midnight, Lum and Abner,
Suspense, The Adventurers of Sherlock Holmes, Dragnet... are among some of my favorites.
To hear a 15-minute episode of Lum
and Abner, airdate May 25, 1942, click on the link below.

Lately I've fallen in love with Genealogy.
It's unbelievable how much information one can find on the internet these days. It used to be a time-consuming, travel extensive,
cost prohibitive adventure, visiting Records Departments in City Halls, Libraries, driving to various cities
and towns across the United States, spending hours with sometimes very little to show for all your hard work.
But now the internet makes the task super easy. I've been able to accumulate so much information
about my family just from the comfort of my desk chair, that I could never have gotten even with years and years of research
the old way. I've now gotten to the point, where the family line is so spread out, it's impossible to track it all. But some
amazing things I've learned. Direct descendant from William the Conqueror and Edward I of England, something like 5th cousin
16 times removed from Henry VIII, and recently discovered I'm direct descendant from Portugese King John I and his queen Philippa
of Lancaster! We're talking going back nearly 800 years! WOW!
I don't know how to link you to my research but I can at least get you to the site....

And finally, some links just for fun and inspiration...
